Matcham's Bar



Matcham’s Bar which is located in Matcham Court towards the rear of the theatre and leading off the stalls. It is the ideal place for drinks during the day (summer only, with outdoor patio) or in the evening. The welcoming bar offers a wide selection of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. Rub shoulders with the stars: this is their local while they are performing at the Grand Theatre.



Matcham’s Bar is open before every performance, at the interval and, usually, afterwards. You can also beat the queues by ordering your interval drinks before the show so they will be waiting for you.

Dress Circle Bar

The Dress Circle Bar can be found off the dress circle walkway, an authentic Victorian theatre bar, with beautiful stained-glass windows.

The bar offers a wide selection of drinks including; beers, a generous wine list and champagnes. On non-performance days the Dress Circle Bar is also available for private hire.

The Dress Circle bar is also available for private hire, for post-performance parties.


Upper Circle Bar

The Upper Circle Bar is another intimate lounge, decorated with Grand Theatre Victorian and Edwardian performance ephemera.

The bar offers a wide selection of drinks including; beers, a generous wine list and champagnes.

The bar is at the rear of the Upper Circle.


Gallery Bar

The Gallery Bar is a well ventilated room under the Dome. Open only occasionally, it stocks bottled beers and soft drinks. The circular space is decorated with a collection of Grand Theatre 1950s and 1960s performance ephemera.

Dwarf Bar

Further particulars of the darkened Dwarf Bar, located in the Gallery promenade, are offered during guided tours of the building!

Lighting Up

You are welcome to smoke on the patio adjoining Matchams Bar.
"Inn Keeping with Artistic Integrity" (plus health & safety and impending legislation) all areas of the Grand Theatre are now No Smoking.
