Watch the wonderful Waiters Gallop for real as six top Blackpool restaurants offer special discounts for Hello, Dolly! ticket holders Six superb town centre restaurants have agreed to be ‘Dolly Diners’ during show week and offer special discounts for ticket holders. Blackpool and Fylde Light Opera Company bring the marvellous matchmaking musical Hello, Dolly! to Blackpool’s Grand Theatre from Tuesday 10th June to Saturday 14th June. And to make your evening complete, six superb town centre restaurants have agreed to be ‘Dolly Diners’ during show week and offer special discounts for ticket holders. Enjoy 10% off the price of a pre theatre meal at Greek restaurant The Med on Church Street, Michael Wan’s Mandarin on Clifton Street, Autumn Leaves and The Akash Tandoori both on Topping Street and the West Coast Rock Café on Abingdon Street. Look out for the Dolly Diners posters and you can get 10% off the price of an early bird meal between 5pm and 7pm on production of a show ticket during the week of 10th to 14th June. Grand Theatre sponsor, Septembers Champagne Bar and Restaurant on Queen Street, have also got in on the act by offering all Hello, Dolly! ticket holders a free loyalty card which can be picked up from the Grand Theatre's Box Office when booking or collecting show tickets and entitles holders to 10% off a meal for two and 10 % off a bottle of house wine among other exciting offers. A spokesperson for BFLOC said: “The idea fits so perfectly with Hello, Dolly! as one of the most famous scenes is set in the Harmonia Gardens Restaurant, so we are extremely grateful to all the six restaurants who have agreed to help us with this promotion. And if you want a sneak preview of the show Blackpool and Fylde Light Opera Company will be performing at the café in Stanley Park this Saturday 31st May between 2pm and 4pm.” In Hello, Dolly! widowed but brassy matchmaker Dolly Gallagher Levi makes a living through what she calls ‘meddling’ – matchmaking and numerous sidelines including dance instruction and mandolin lessons. She travels to Yonkers, New York, to visit her new client - the grumpy Horace Vandergelder, a prominent citizen and wealthy bachelor in need of a wife to tend to himself and his home. It is soon clear, however, that Dolly intends to marry Horace herself and to ‘send his money circulating among the people like rainwater’, the way her late husband taught her. Hello, Dolly! is an irresistibly cheerful story featuring wonderful songs such as Before The Parade Passes By, Put On Your Sunday Clothes, Ribbons Down My Back the fabulous Waiters Gallop and of course the signature Hello, Dolly! With beautiful costumes and amazing sets, this magnificent musical will delight young and old alike. The original Broadway production of Hello, Dolly! opened to rave reviews on January 16, 1964, becoming a Broadway blockbuster running for an incredible 2,844 performances. The Oscar-winning 1969 film starred Barbra Streisand, Walter Matthau and Michael Crawford and was directed by Gene Kelly. Hello, Dolly! is at the Grand Theatre, Blackpool from Tuesday 10th June to Saturday 14th June at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
