Britain’s Got Talent legend and top comedy entertainer, Steve Royle, will help to light up Layton on Friday 25 November at the ever-popular Layton Christmas Lights Switch-On!
Blackpool Grand Theatre’s much-loved panto star will once again flick the big switch and turn Layton into a festive spectacle! Get ready for an evening of fun Christmas activities for all the family before the all-important Christmas Tree is lit up by Steve Royle at 6.15 pm.
For many years, the residents of Layton have been among the top visitors to the fabulous family pantomime held each year at The Grand, making the collaboration between Blackpool Grand Theatre and Layton Ward Councillors a natural partnership.
Also supporting the big Switch On for 2022 will be the Blackpool Brass Band, Blackpool Music Service Community Choir, the choir from Christ the King Catholic Academy school and, of course, a visit from Father Christmas himself and some other exciting Christmas visitors…
Children will also be able to participate in a treasure hunt around Layton to win a goody bag and there will be a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses and stall holders who will be attending to sell their festive gifts and treats.
Visit the special Facebook page – Layton Community Christmas Lights Switch On for full details and regular updates and please note – some road closures will take place in Layton from 5.30 pm.
The Worshipful the Mayor of Blackpool and Layton Ward Councillor, Kathryn Benson, said: “We are thrilled to join with the Grand Theatre to light Layton up in style on November 25th and we are overjoyed that Steve Royle will once again be with us to flick the big switch.
“We would also like to thank the very generous traders of Layton for their kind donations, our stall holders for raffle prizes, Enveco and Blackpool Council for their support with road closures and the Blackpool Illuminations team.
“Layton is really pulling the stops out this year to bring the festive sparkle for businesses and residents! Come and join the seasonal celebration!”
Enjoy a fun-packed evening at Layton Lights Switch On and then fly to Blackpool Grand Theatre for the greatest pantomime ever told starring top panto star Steve Royle (Britain’s Got Talent) as Silly Billy alongside TV favourites Hayley Tamaddon (Dancing on Ice, Emmerdale) and Philip Meeks (Emmerdale, Heartbeat, Doctors) as Panto Dame Nursie! It’s a fabulous, fairytale treat for all the family this festive season!
