An Exclusive Ballet Experience with members of the Russian State Ballet of Siberia

Blackpool’s Grand Theatre works all year round in the engagement of young people in the arts. Offering experiences that will never be forgotten.

Blackpool’s Grand is offering just 20 children/young people, aged 8 to 15 years the chance to experience an exclusive ballet experience (class) on Friday 12 January (3pm) with some of the incredible dancers from the Russian State Ballet of Siberia on the Grand Theatre Stage.

Formed in 1981, the Russian State Ballet & Orchestra of Siberia has now established itself as one of Russia’s leading ballet companies and has built an international reputation for delivering performances of outstanding quality and unusual depth. Both the soloists and the corps de ballet have been highly praised by critics, and never fail to delight audiences with their breath-taking ability and dazzling costumes.

Blackpool’s Grand will present three works with the Russian State Ballet & Orchestra of Siberia including; The Snow Maiden, The Nutcracker and Swan Lake (Fri 12 to Sun 14 January, 2018).

Blackpool Grand Theatre Marketing Manager Andrew Howard said; ‘This is an incredible ballet experience. We are asked all the time by young people and their parents if opportunities like this are possible. Unfortunately, they are very limited due to the running times of the shows, but the Russian State Ballet of Siberia agreed to make themselves available for this unique opportunity. A free opportunity to work with such a world-renowned company is a delight for us offer.

This outstanding company amaze and delight every year we love having them back and we know the audiences do too.

We have worked with the company to create this ballet experience, an exclusive one-off chance for local young people to warm up with this Russian ballet company. Only through donations to the theatre is it possible for us to continue to offer such free opportunities to the young community.’

The participants will also be invited to observe the Russian State Ballet Class starting at 4pm from the auditorium.

Applications made will be selected at random and participants must be available on the date and time (12 Jan, 3pm).

Restrictions/requirements; BALLET EXPERIENCE: You must be available on Friday 12 January 2018 at 2:30pm for a 3pm start. A guardian (18yrs+) must attend throughout. The event is limited to 20 children/young people (aged 8 to 15 years). The class will last approximately 30-40mins. Participants must have ballet experience (take regular classes, have an understanding of terms used and positions), be appropriately dressed (with footwear), and a maximum of two people (one adult, over 18) may accompany them (sat in the auditorium). By applying you agree to promotion images and video being taken of the event and of the participant. A video interview of the experience could be requested of the participant (but not compulsory).
