Do you have an eye for great cinematography? Can you tell a story through video? Is your film-making innovative?

Breakin’ Convention and Blackpool’s, Grand Theatre is looking for the next generation of film-makers to take part in the third BCTV Film Mentorship Programme. As part of the opportunity selected emerging film-makers will receive training and mentorship as well as produce engaging video content for BCTV.

We want to hear from local innovative, emerging film-makers with an understanding of hip hop culture to tell unique stories and promote the positive aspect of hip hop to the rest of the world. We want film-makers who can contribute to the vision of BCTV.

If you are selected as one of our film-makers you will be invited to our two-day BCTV Film-Makers training session in London where you will learn more about Breakin’ Convention, your role as well as taking part in a range of sessions delivered by experienced film-makers and industry specialists. Our mentor will also spend a day with you in your hometown focussing on film-making techniques and skills specific to your needs or knowledge gaps.

Film-makers will work closely with Breakin’ Convention, our mentor and Blackpool’s Grand Theatre to create and follow briefs to document the festival as it comes to Blackpool. You will be expected to make a minimum of two short films which will be uploaded to our channel. You will create a highlight film of the Breakin’ Convention Festival and at least one other film which you will be responsible for conceptualising, writing a proposal and treatment and producing.

Some participants from the first BCTV Mentorship Programme have gone on to form our core BCTV Team receiving regular commissions including work across the UK, Germany for Battle of the Year and our forthcoming USA Tour.
