Gary Murphy’s I LIKE IT – The Ultimate Tribute to Gerry Marsden and The Swinging 60s will roll into Blackpool Grand Theatre for one rocking night only on Saturday 24 August to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Merseybeat legends Gerry and the Pacemakers releasing their famous debut single I Like It.

Multi-talented guitarist and songwriter Gary Murphy is bringing his sensational swinging 60s show to the seaside this summer featuring hit songs from The Beatles, Paul McCartney, The Searchers, The Merseybeats, The Swinging Blue Jeans, The Hollies and the Small Faces plus many more, along with the greatest hits of Gerry & The Pacemakers – from Ferry Cross the Mersey and How Do You Do It to You’ll Never Walk Alone and, of course, I Like It.

Extra special guest star Tony Crane from The Merseybeats has also just been announced for Blackpool date!

Award-winning musician Gary Murphy is regarded as one of the finest guitarists in the UK and is a resident artist at Liverpool’s world-famous Cavern Club as well as performing throughout the UK and Europe. Gary has also worked closely with many of the Merseybeat legends including Gerry Marsden (The Pacemakers), Mike McCartney (Scaffold), Mike Pender’s (Searchers), Tony Crane, Billy Kinsley (The Merseybeats) and Ray Ennis (The Swingin’ Blue Jeans), James Burton (Elvis Presley), Pete Best and Dave Berry (The Cruisers) and this show will feature personal anecdotes of his times performing live with the Merseybeat stars. For I LIKE IT he will be accompanied by his incredible Gary Murphy Band and singer Jade Thunder.

He says: “I’m very excited to be performing and touring my Sixties tribute show I LIKE IT throughout this year. Many great things came from the Sixties – we even put a man on the moon. But for me it was all about the music, and that music is still in the heart of Merseyside today, 60 years on.

“I’ve been fortunate to have worked with a lot of the original Sixties legends over the years and I am delighted to have Tony Crane as a special guest in Blackpool, where he has many fans, I was also a close friend of the late, great Gerry Marsden. I LIKE IT is named in memory of the Pacemakers’ first hit single which was released 60 years ago in 1963.”
