The Grand Theatre’s impressive season of dance got off to a fantastic start with our Dance Season Launch on Tuesday 21 January. The event was well attended, with guests from local schools, dance companies and press turning out to celebrate our eclectic programme of dance taking place throughout 2014 at the Grand Theatre Blackpool.
In 2012 The Grand was awarded the status of a National Portfolio Organisation and it is because of this great support from the Arts Council England that we are able to attract some of the biggest names in the world of contemporary dance.
As part of our Dance Season Launch, guests were offered an exclusive peak at some of the highlights of the forthcoming year. The exciting programme of events taking place within The Grand includes internationally acclaimed dance company Hofesh Schechter’s latest work, Sun, the renowned and thrilling Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre, as well as one-day international hip hop festival, Breakin’ Convention.
And to whet everyone’s appetite for our new season of dance, attendees were also treated to a fun and lively performance by St Teresa’s Primary School, Thornton-Cleveleys. The children were inspired by the work of Rugby World Cup opening ceremony choreographer James Wilton, who brings his latest show Last Man Standing to The Grand this April.
Whether you love ballet, tap or contemporary, ensure you don’t miss a beat by keeping up to date with our thrilling season of dance at Guidance Online.
