Blackpool’s Grand Theatre and Blackpool Transport Partner on brand new project – Destination Grand Theatre.
Blackpool’s Grand Theatre welcomes over 130,000 people a year through its doors. Over 20% of these theatre-goers use public transport – but Blackpool’s Grand in a working partnership with Blackpool Transport aim to encourage even more of its attendees to think about travelling on local public transport.
The Grand Theatre, in partnership with Blackpool Transport, today launches to its theatre-goers a highly-discounted return travel ticket (for adults and children) giving easy access and reduced cost.
Adults will be able to travel to and from the theatre for just £3 and Children at £1, saving over 40%. The travel ticket is simple to add on to theatre tickets when booking your show. In addition, the theatre offers a dedicated page blackpoolgrand.co.uk/destinationgrandtheatre where you can order weekly and monthly travel tickets direct to your phone App.
Using public transport has huge benefits to the community both economic and health and helps to reduce local road congestion.
Offering ease of accessibility and increased social connections, Blackpool Transport has taken delivery of 92 Palladium single and double-decker buses in recent years, part of the operator’s five-year, £22 million plan to overhaul its 140-strong fleet.
The new fleet have USB charging points, free Wi-Fi, audio and visual announcement systems, mobile phone holders, stop buttons at seats, infotainment screens, e-leather seats and wood effect flooring.
Jane Cole, managing director at Blackpool Transport, said “Our aim is to provide an inclusive and integrated transport network both for locals and the many visitors who form part of the 15 million people we provide services for every year.
“Partnering with the iconic Blackpool Grand as an Arts Venue enhances our local accessibility and will hopefully encourage more people to use our great public transport offer.”
Andrew Howard, marketing manager at Blackpool Grand Theatre said: “We are delighted to be launching our new ‘Destination Grand Theatre’ campaign over the coming weeks – so keep an eye on your local bus stop.
“Thanks to the incredible support of Blackpool Transport this opportunity will give greater access to the arts and help theatre-goer’s travel costs. We know it’s going to be hugely popular.
