The Grand Theatre’s two sensational summer season shows, Step Back In Time and Ooh La La, have both been choreographed by the highly experienced and established choreographer Nathan Clarke. Nathan was Creative Director of BBC’s The Voice and Associate Director of the Olympics 2012 and Paralympics closing ceremonies.
Nathan explains, “During summer last year I was lucky enough to work on both closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. I was an Associate Director and worked side by side with the incredible director Kim Gavin.
I have worked closely with Kim for the last 7 years and was honoured to join him on this project. We began 12 months before the actual ceremony date in August, workshopping and creating ideas with the assistance of 20 of London’s best professional dancers. It was incredibly tough and long but personally very rewarding.
I had the opportunity to work with some of my biggest idols, from Annie Lennox, Rhianna, Jay-Z, to Jessie J, Tinnie Tempa, Brian May and Coldplay to name a few. It was an experience I don’t think I will ever top. To sit back on the night and watch some of my choreography performed by such talent from both professional dancers and inspiring volunteers was enough to make my heart swell.”
Originally from Australia, Nathan began dancing at a very young age. He has an exceptional resume as a dancer including performances with Leona Lewis, Take That, Alexandra Burke, Michael Buble, Alicia Dixon, Pixie Lott, Elton John and many more. Nathan has worked on the creation of Take That’s Progress live European and UK tour, Katherine Jenkins Believe tour, The Nolan Sisters tour and Darcy Bussel’s Viva la Diva tour.
