A sizzling summer is planned at The Grand Theatre, Blackpool with nine different music shows to choose from… whether you love Rock, Pop, 70s, Blues, Ballads or you’re a huge ABBA fan, then we have the shows for you!
Music has always been a cornerstone of The Grand’s programming and the venue has seen some of the best music performances over the years including; The Drifters, The Osmonds, Nik Kershaw, T’Pau, Joan Armatrading, Billy J Kramer, The Hollies, Merseybeats, Thriller Live, and Let It Be (this March!).
In a tribute to some of the greats, The Grand this SUMMER offers a full six weeks of smash hits with GRAND MUSIC FEST16.
The spectacular line-up includes a tribute to ABBA with Dancing Queen (Mon 25 July, Mon 1 Aug, Mon 8 Aug, Mon 15 Aug, Mon 22 Aug, Sat 27 Aug), relive the nights when ABBA ruled the dance floor and experience the classic 70’s era in all its glory. With full costumes and plenty of glitz, this is the golden age of pop revived!
Described by the BBC as ‘An authentic Masterpiece’ and ‘Simply perfection’ by The Mail on Sunday Let’s Hang On (Sat 13 Aug, Sat 20 Aug, Mon 29 Aug, Mon 5 Sept) takes you on a musical journey through the prolific career of one of the most successful bands of all time Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons.
The Grand welcomes the award-winning production Chicago Blues Brothers (Tues 2 Aug, Tues 9 Aug, Tues 16 Aug, Tues 23 Aug, Tues 30 Aug), the world’s leading tribute to the legendary Blues Brothers. Celebrating over 30 years of the Blues Brothers phenomenon, this explosive non-stop party night is packed with the greatest Blues, Motown & Soul songs from both of The Blues Brothers movies (1980 and 1998)!
A whirlwind trip from the 50s through to the best songs of today, Forever in Blue Jeans (Thurs 28 Jul, Thurs 18 Aug, Thurs 1 Sept) promises a great night out for all the family. The talented cast of seven deliver classic songs, from Brenda Lee, The Carpenters, Motown and Carole King.
Featuring sparkling vocals and a super-cool band (boasting musicians who have appeared with Mike Oldfield, Asia and Ultravox), Solid Gold 70s (Thurs 4 Aug, Thurs 11 Aug, Thurs 25 Aug) features glam rock greats, disco hits, power ballads and party anthems from the likes of Queen, Sweet, 10cc, David Soul, Andrew Gold, David Cassidy, John Miles, Suzi Quatro, Boney M, Buggles, Elton John, Bay City Rollers, David Essex, The Osmonds, ELO and many more. This show guarantees a POPtastic time.
T.Rextasy (Fri 29 Jul, Fri 26 Aug) are the only band authorised and endorsed by Marc Bolan’s Catalogue Management. The band are officially recognised as the world’s No.1 group dedicated to the greatest glam rocker of them all, Marc Bolan of T.Rex. Having toured worldwide playing such incredible venues as the renowned Ariake Coliseum in Japan and Wembley Arena in London. Performing alongside such greats as English glam rock band Wizzard, Cockney Rebel, Ian Hunter (Mott the Hoople), and Slade amongst others.
A brand new production, Think Floyd (Sun 31 Jul, Fri 12 Aug) features The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here – arguably two the most influential albums of all time. These masterpieces will be performed from start to finish, along with a range classic Pink Floyd from Syd Barrett through to The Division Bell.
Celebrating its 10th incredible year with more chart toppers than ever before The Magic of Motown (Sun 28 Aug) featuring the music of the Four Tops, Supremes, Temptations, Jackson 5, Isley Brothers, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie and many more.
Karen Carpenter – Voice of The Heart (Wed 27 Jul, Wed 17 Aug, Wed 31 Aug) – 30 years since the legendary Karen Carpenter passed away, she left behind an amazing catalogue of hit songs and golden memories and is still played daily on radio stations throughout the UK. Voice of The Heart celebrates the music and leads you on a magical journey.
In celebration of one of the most successful boy bands of all time, The Grand presents The Take That Experience Show – Relight The Fire (Sun 14 Aug, Sun 21 Aug), delivering favourites new and old including Back For Good, Could It Be Magic, Patience, Shine, Rule The World, Greatest Day and The Flood.
GRAND MUSIC FEST16 will present a one-off performance of The Drifters (Sun 24 July), with such iconic hits as Under The Boardwalk, Saturday Night At The Movies, Up On The Roof, Kissin In The Back Row, Down on the Beach and More Than A Number In My Little Red Book. The show will include tracks from their new album release on the Warner/Atlantic label – A very special tribute to the late great Ben E King.
