O Come All Ye Faithful and join Poulton-le-Fylde Band for their heart-warming return to Blackpool Grand Theatre with the glorious Grand Christmas Concert on Monday 12 December.

It’s a fabulous festive treat for all the family as the much-loved Poulton-le-Fylde Brass Band celebrate the season of goodwill in their annual rousing style.

This year’s Grand Christmas Concert will take place just 12 days before the Big Day, making it the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time with friends or family. For many, the annual Christmas Concert is an unmissable date in their Christmas calendar, heralding the official start of the holiday season, with a magical evening of traditional festivities, mulled wine and mince pies – and all in the beautiful surroundings of the Grade II* listed Grand Theatre.

Andrew Howard, Grand Theatre Marketing Manager said:

Year on year people look forward to the Grand Christmas Concert. It is the perfect antidote to the manic present-buying and planning in the run-up to the holiday season, giving audiences the chance to recapture the true spirit of Christmas with exceptional music, great company and good cheer! And with our Christmas panto Sleeping Beauty running throughout December, Blackpool Grand Theatre really is the place for the whole family to enjoy a traditional Christmas.

Packed with all your favourite sing-along carols and festive melodies, the family-friendly Grand Christmas Concert is the perfect way to Have Yourselves A Merry Little Christmas.

But what are the UK’s favourite Christmas carols?

A nationwide survey from Classic FM has revealed that the traditional hymn O Holy Night is Great Britain’s favourite festive tune. The revered Christmas carol also held the top spot for 11 years from 2003 to 2013 and is believed to have been the first ever carol played on the radio!

It was composed in 1847 by Adolphe Adam under the name Cantique de Noël and it wasn’t until a decade later that the English translation was released. The celebrated hymn has since been covered by Andrea Bocelli, Celine Dion and even the Queen of Christmas herself, Mariah Carey, and is a firm favourite with choirs around the world at Christmas time.

Is your favourite Christmas carol in the UK’s top ten?

  1. O Holy Night
  2. Silent Night
  3. In The Bleak Midwinter (Gustav Holst version)
  4. Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
  5. In The Bleak Midwinter (Howard Darke version)
