Boyband royalty Matt Goss leads the way with his incredible new stage show The Hits and More on Thursday 13 March as part of his brand new tour. Are You Ready to fall Madly in Love with the pop superstar all over again? Matt’s show will be a celebration of his incredible music career and will mark his eagerly anticipated return to the live UK music scene after wowing audiences across the USA for the last eleven years. Matt Goss first burst into our lives as lead singer of the English pop sensation BROS with his brother Luke in the 1980s, storming to the top of the music charts with unforgettable hits such as When Will I Be Famous, I Owe You Nothing and Drop the Boy. Matt went on to become the youngest artist to sell out and headline Wembley Stadium, performing to a crowd of more than 77,000 fans. Pop Music Chart Day is celebrated every 4 January to recognise the birth of American Billboard Magazine’s first ever pop music chart, The Hit Parade, which was published on this day in 1936 with Stop, Look and Listen from jazz violinist Joe Venuti and his orchestra taking the number one spot. The idea grew and by 1958 the popular songs of the day were consolidated into the infamous Billboard Hot 100 list which has continued for more than 50 years. Originally limited to radio play, the list now combines radio with singles sales, digital downloads and streaming activity, with the current number one song on the Hot 100 listed as Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas!
Pop music is often catchy and difficult to resist and while typically a frothy and fun sound, many songs that top the charts defy these boundaries and include elements borrowed from jazz, dance, urban, rock, funk, country, Latin and many other styles of music.
