It’s Raining Men… If only! Gentlemen, have you ever thought about treading the boards, standing under that spotlight shining on you and singing your heart out?? Well, here’s the chance for your dream to become a reality.
Blackpool Operatic Players have now started rehearsing for their 2018 production of the comedy musical Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and are on the look out for men. If you can sing, then why not come along and join us for what is guaranteed to be a top show.
This award-winning group will be only the second society to perform this iconic show in Lancashire since it was released to amateurs last year.
The show is adapted from Stephan Elliott’s 1994 film, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, and tells the story of two drag queens and a transgender woman, who contract to perform a drag show at a resort in Alice Springs, a remote town in the Australian desert. As they head west from Sydney aboard their lavender bus, Priscilla, the three friends come to the forefront of a comedy of errors, encountering a number of strange characters, while widening comfort zones and finding new horizons.
With well known chart-topping numbers such as It’s Raining Men, I Will Survive, Hot Stuff and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, this show will have the audiences on their feet, applauding for more.
The group are currently rehearsing on Wednesday evenings, starting at 7:30pm at Marton Methodist Church Hall, Midgeland Road, Blackpool, so why not come down and join in the fun.
If you want further information, please contact the society’s secretary, Marian Chesters, on 01253 700912.
Book now for Priscilla, Queen of the Desert at Blackpool’s Grand Theatre, 4 to 7 April 2018.
