Well-known for winning ‘I’d Do Anything’ and the chance to play Nancy in the British revival of West End’s Oliver!, Jodie Prenger is also known for being the first woman in the world to win The Biggest Loser, in 2006.
As an entertainer, Prenger performed extensively in Northern England on the cabaret circuit – particularly here in Blackpool, her hometown. Did you know that in 1998 she performed in the musical comedy Hot Mikado here at the Grand?
Needless to say, we’re very excited to have her back for Abigail’s Party!
Abigail’s Party
11th March to 16th March 2019
‘A night of continuous guilty pleasure.’
— The Telegraph
‘One of the greatest plays about the human condition ever written.’
— The Guardian
Abigail’s Party is set in a 1970s suburbia, in which Beverly and her husband Lawrence are throwing a flashy party for Tony and Angela, their newlywed neighbours. Amongst classic disco, free-flowing cocktails, and cheese and pineapple sticks, a high-strung Susan joins them. Having been banished from her teenage daughter’s party, Abigail, tempers flare and tensions rise.
These warring couples will tear away the sheen of respectability – with potentially disastrous, but certainly hilarious, consequences. Abigail’s Party is one of the most celebrated comedies in Britain, one you must see for a spot of fun and laughter with your loved ones.

Theatre Work
Prenger was in the ensemble of Les Misérables on 26th August 2008 at the Queen’s Theatre, which gave her experience in performing in the West End. She performed during six of the eight weekly shows of Oliver! on 12th December 2008, at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.
Oliver! was positively received and she was part of the cast for the revival on 16th March 2009. Prenger also received the Theatregoers’ Choice Whatsonstage Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for her role as Nancy.
In 2010, Prenger played The Lady of the Lake in the UK tour of Monty Python’s Spamalot, a hit musical adapted from the 1975 film titled Monty Python and the Holy Grail. She was also cast in the UK tour of Annie, the musical, in 2015. She played Miss Hannigan at Oxford’s New Theatre.
On TV and on the Radio
Prenger was a guest panellist on Loose Women on ITV, in 2009. She also occasionally presented on BBC One the midweek National Lottery draw. She played Linda Wickes in Waterloo Road in 2011 and, in the same year, she was on CBeebies Justin’s House.
Taking Boyzone’s Keith Duffy’s place on Let’s Dance for Comic Relief due to him being unable to participate, Prenger ended up finishing second place to Antony Cotton. She’s a regular contributor on This Morning and on The Alan Titchmarsh Show, alongside sitting in for Elaine Paige and Paul O’Grady when they aren’t on their shows on BBC Radio 2.
