It’s down to Grandfather Smed and Grandmother Smoo to take off on a rescue mission to bring them back home.
The Smeds and The Smoos is Romeo and Juliet for little ones complete with colourful characters, amazing puppetry and lots and lots of fun for the whole family!
This magical tale of love and acceptance is the latest smash-hit production from renowned theatre company Tall Stories who previously brought The Gruffalo and Room on the Broom live to the Blackpool Grand stage to great acclaim.
Julia Donaldson CBE is an English writer and playwright and was the 2011–2013 Children’s Laureate. She is best known for her popular rhyming stories for children, especially those illustrated by Axel Scheffler, which include The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom, The Smeds and The Smoos and Stick Man. Star-studded animations of her famous tales are also seen each year on BBC TV on Christmas Day, which this year featured The Smeds and The Smoos with voice overs by household names including Sally Hawkins, Rob Brydon and Meera Syal.
But what are the Top Five Julia Donaldson & Axel Sheffler books?
1. The Gruffalo – A quick-thinking mouse comes face to face with an owl, a snake and a hungry Gruffalo…
2. Room on The Broom – A kind witch and her cat invite a dog, a bird and a frog to join them travelling on her broomstick.
3. A Squash and a Squeeze – An old lady requires more room in her house and with the help of an old man and a few farmyard animals finds an unconventional solution.
4. What the Ladybird Heard – Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len have a cunning plan to sneak past all the animals and steal the farmer’s fine prize cow.
5. The Smeds and The Smoos – a lovely story with a very important message – our cultures and the way we look should never be something to separate us.
